ABOUT THE ANNOTATOR

CRAIG DOOLIN is currently in the final stages of completing a Ph.D. in Musicology at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. He holds a BME in Music Education and Clarinet from Morehead State University (KY), and an MA in Music History and Clarinet from Marshall University (WV). During his tenure at Marshall, he wrote program notes for performances by the Opera Department, narrated a faculty recital of excerpts from Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier (for which he also wrote the narration), and performed regularly in university ensembles. He was librarian for the Huntington Chamber (now Symphony) Orchestra and Pops, for which he also served as program annotator.

For the summers of 2000 and 2001, he served as Concert Programs Coordinator for the Brevard Music Center in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, concurrently serving as Program Annotator for the summer season of 2000. It was during the second year at Brevard that he noticed the glaring historical inaccuracies in commercial program notes from a leading annotator, a problem that he found himself correcting throughout the season. It is from these efforts that ORPHEUS MUSIC PROSE grew.
